There has been a huge back lash against Mel Gibson since the release of his recorded fights with his ex, Oksana Grigorieva, but is it time to forgive him and move on? Robert Downey Jr., who credits Mel with helping him get sober, is telling Hollywood to give the Aussie actor a second chance.
During his speech at an event in Beverlly Hills to honour his life’s work, Robert got up on stage and hugged Mel saying “Unless you are without sin- and if you are, you are in the wrong f-ing industry... He's a good dude with a good heart.”

Troubled movie star Mel Gibson has escaped a jail sentence after pleading no contest to hitting his ex.
Dressed in a black suit the two time Academy Award winner only spoke to answer the judge’s question of whether he understood the sentence.
The ruling brings to an end the protracted saga that spans back to January 2010, when Gibson’s ex, Oksana Grigorieva claimed he’d punched her in the face after a heated argument about custody of their daughter Lucia.
Gibson has admitted to slapping her with the palm of his hand, claiming he was worried about the safety of his daughter.
Gibson was handed 3 years probation, a year of domestic violence counselling and must perform 16 hours of community service, plus pay court costs and fines.

Will this be the movie to get us liking Mel Gibson again?
Perhaps it is.
He plays a father and husband going through depression finding the only way to get through life is by using a hand puppet - the beaver.
Guaranteed there will be a fair amount of cheese involved but it is directed and co-stars Jodie Foster, has a bit of eye candy care of Anton Yelchin and we all want to see Mel do well, don't we?
The Beaver is out February 2011.

The Dirt hereby proclaims that Ricky Gervais should be the host of all award ceremonies from now till forever.
Introduced by Emmys host Jimmy Fallon as a "fat, rude, loud mouthed Brit, but now he's a lost a bit of weight", Gervais' confronting sense of humour sent the Nokia Theatre audience into stitches.
Gervais lamented about the lack of alcohol at the Emmys - and before calling upon waiters to serve beers, added that the likes of Russell Crowe, Christian Bale and Kiefer Sutherland weren't around to cause a ruckus anyway.
Mel Gibson wasn't spared - with Gervais having a fair old crack.

Just when you thought there couldn't be any more skeletons in Mel Gibson's closet ... this picture has surfaced.
Oksana released the image to entertainment news site radaronline.com, and her people say it is a "true and accurate photograph" which has not been digitally altered.
She told the Police that the pic shows the results of a confrontation with Mel on January 6th.
The mother of Mel's youngest child says that he struck her in the mouth, knocking one veneer out and chipping another tooth. The photo is now with the Police investigating the alleged domestic violence case.
News hit over the weekend that Mel was selling up his properties in the US and moving back to Australia, but his people have denied the rumour.
