Britney's Oz Tour Depends on Economy, US Dollar Posted by ScandalAnt 16 April, 2009 - 7:53 AM
A decision on whether plans will go ahead for an Australian leg of Britney Spears' circus tour will depend on an analysis of the economy and the strength of the American dollar, according to a US court official.A Los Angeles court official this week said the depressed economy may hamper plans by Britney Spears’ father, Jamie, to expand the pop star's current Circus tour.
The 27-year-old pop star is halfway through a 49-show tour of the U.S., Canada and the UK, with hopes of adding more dates through Europe, Australia and a possible second US tour.
“It hasn’t yet been determined whether it’s feasible to expand tours to the Europe or Australia legs,” LA Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz is quoted by People magazine’s website as saying, after a closed-door discussion with Jamie and his lawyers.
“That will be determined in the future after everyone's seen the analysis, in terms of the economy and value of the dollar.”
Goetz is the same judicial official that granted Jamie and a lawyer indefinite legal control – conservatorship - over his daughter following her two forced hospitalisations last year.
ScandalAnt hears Britney's loving being on stage again and her health is improving week by week, while it shouldn’t be forgotten she has also been the driving force behind the tour happening in the first place.
Spears has apologised for walking off stage during a concert in Vancouver, Canada over the weekend. She blamed smoke coming from the audience making the crew sick.
After hanging out backstage for an hour and angering concert goers she re-emerged on stage only to walk off after a few songs. Before leaving the stage for the final time she told the audience: “Vancouver, don't smoke weed.”
A spokesperson has posted an apology on the singer's site explaining the “brief pause” as taking place because “crew members above the stage became ill due to a ventilation issue”.
It hasn’t all been smooth sailing for the Circus tour, with a wardrobe malfunction striking in its early stages.

If Beyonce can come here so can Britney! Stuff the economy! I'm sure most people will be disappointed if she didn't come here. Maybe she does lip sync but she puts on a good show from what I have seen. At least she has everything under control now.
