Caravan of Courage I
Caravan of Courage 2
Follow the second journey of the Caravan of Courage as Hamish & Andy make their way from Melbourne to Darwin!
The boys planned a road trip from the West Coast to the Far East Coast of Australia and christened the epic journey the excellent name of "Caravan of Courage." They packed their sleeping bags, stocked up on the family sized Cruskits and hit the road. Well Andy hit the road, while Hamish navigated as he'd conveniently forgotten to renew his license prior to the trip. Doh!
First stop was the fine town of Southern Cross where they met Sam the Coin Collector Man and his coins from Jesus' time. Biblical indeed.
Carrying on they ran out of petrol 70 kms away from the closest town, but managed to hail down help to continue the trip to Norseman where they met Mad Ted who was indeed mad and was also intent on making the boys drink his rain water.
"Better than Evian" proclaimed Ted proudly while Hamish agreed that it did indeed have a desirable after taste of water. The water might have been clean but Ted's language wasn't!
On from Norseman the fellas pulled into the quiet town of Cocklebiddy where they went fossicking for gold with 80-year-old George. They found a beer can which George admitted was probably worth "S.F.A" we bleeped that on the radio.
The weekend was spent crossing the Nullabor where they saw nothing.
From here they hugged South Australia and moved onto country Victorian town of Donald where they met Eric and Bill who challenged the boys to a game of lawn bowls. The loser had to present the winner with a beer, stripped to their undies. Eric honoured the challenge and did just that.
They pierced the border and entered Goulburn where they were greeted by a 10 ft Ram, with a massive set of concrete plums. The locals were proud.
10 days later and 4000 kms on they arrived in Queensland.
Hamish & Andy you've done the country proud! We've felt the love as you managed to successfully hug Australia.
Onya Boys!
