Labby, Camilla and Stav's Blog

Dearly Deported Posted by Haylie 9 July, 2009 - 8:38 AM

What a crazy morning! Do you agree with the outcome of Labby, Camilla and Stav's Dearly Deported? Have your say on the most controversial competition in radio.

Before today Evonne hadn't seen her brother in 20 years. Anthony also has a 17-year-old daughter that he had never met. Today they were all reunited.

Evonne got 2 out of 3 questions right which means Anthony can spend a day with his sister and daughter but will be Dearly Deported within 24 hours.

People enter knowing the stakes so whatever happens happens..... But I still think it should be, 1 question - 2 days, 2 questions - 1 week, 3 Questions - however long. That way in cases like Anthony's he has atleast 2 days with his family.....

    "Rules is rules, Jacko"

Enjoy the 24 hours and worry less about what 'could have been'.

I think rules can be broken once in the circumstances i understand the rules of the competition but in these circumstances i'm sure you could bend them. I would be devastated if it was me and that happened, you would always feel like it was your fault that he only got to spend 24hrs with a daughter he had never seen before. One day is not enough to catch up on 20years. My mum is in NZ and i would be devastated to only get to spend 24hrs with her and then she got taken away.

I think the terms of the competition were very clear, and stated that he would have to leave the country after 1 day if they only got 2 questions right.
If you are looking to pacify all the soft, bleeding hearts in Brizzy, its simple. Make sure his flight home has a stopover outside the country (ie. New Zealand) and they can meet him there.
Still soft, but within the terms of the competition.
    Heather.

    Heres a thought.....
send anthonys sister and daughter to europe after the 24 hours is up.
Get listeners to donate money for airfare over the next 24 hrs....

He could become an Australian citizen assuming that he isn’t already. I don’t think he could be deported if he’s an citizen.

I understand rules are rules, but couldn't we help Anthony financially to come back ?

I know rules are rules and yes they only have 24hrs which is fair and Anthony has to go back. Why not getting a sponsor to bring him back for REAL..........

Rules are rules, but why not add a twist. Get them all back in offer one more question. Double or nothing. She gets it right, he can stay longer, she gets it wrong, they are parted immediately.
