Level 6 Water Restrictions Over!
B105 25 July, 2008 - 10:20 AM
With dam levels now at 40%, level 6 water restrictions were eased on 31 July 2008. We're extremely excited (as we're sure you are) about the new changes. We've put together the facts for everything you need to know about Target 140 to ensure we don't waste water.
What Does High Level Water Restriction mean for you?
The target for each person is 170 litres per day (was previously 140).
Bucket Usage:
- You CAN water gardens with a bucket any day between 4pm-8am
- You CAN clean vehicles, buildings and equipment with a bucket at any time
- You MAY NOT use a bucket at any time (or hose) to clean hard surfaces, such as driveways or to water your lawn.
Hose Usage:
- You CAN ONLY use a single hose with a trigger or twist nozzle, or a high pressure cleaning unit.
- You CAN hose to water garden, clean buildings, equipment and vehicles on Saturday from 4pm to 4.30 for odd numbered properties or on Sunday from 4pm to 4.30pm for even and unnumbered properties.
- You MAY NOT use a hose at any time to clean hard surfaces, such as driveways or to water your lawn.
- Pets can be washed with a hand held hose fitted with a trigger or twist nozzle and town water can be used for drinking water at any time.
Pools:
- You CAN ONLY use a single hose with a trigger or twist nozzle, or a high pressure cleaning unit.
- Odd numbered properties CAN top up their pool with a hose on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays between 4pm - 7pm.
- Even and unnumbered properties CAN top up their pool with a hose on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays between 4pm - 7pm.
- You CAN NOT fill a new pool.

It's great that we finally have our dams at 40%, but instead of easing restrictions, we should carry on the way we are with the exceptions of maybe having a wet weekend every month or bi-monthly. With the weather the way it is it won't be long before we would have to go back onto Level 6.

i would like to say that going off level 6 is a stupid idea because we are meant to be saving water. the drought is not over we still need to save water so we should stay on level 6 until we reach more then 40%. not as soon as it is on 40%. The council need to go a brain and think about what they are doing because after all this rain we dont need to use the hose yet or wash cars all this rain has done it for us. instead we should be waiting till all the run off has it the dams and then go right we are at this % so lets try and keep it there by staying on level 6. this idea of going to level 5 has made me mad and pissed off.

I say WOO HOO ! .. they're not saying everybody go nuts .. 140 increasing to 170 means we can use about 20% more water. I don't think that's going to deplete the dams overnight .. we've had some good rain recently why be so pessimistic & think it won't continue? Easing restrictions will be welcomed by me at least :-)

Water Restrictions are just a knee-jerk reaction to the governments failure to provide the basic necessities to the people. Next they will be restricting our driving on the roads to ease traffic congestion!

The important thing that must be emphasised by any responsible radio station, is that the restrictions ARE NOT YET lifted. That has to be approved by parliament and publically announced. We can NOT start watering the gardens this weekend.

i think its a disgrace on the QLD water commission to ease water restrictions this early, theres still not enough water and with more and more people moving to the south east each day give it a few weeks and we'll be back om target 140
