KEY ROLES

Hotel Accommodation and Conference Booking System
Client: Asdoo.com
Role: Software Architect
Technologies:
Ruby On Rails, Rails web services, PostgresSQL, XML/XSLT Open Travel Alliance integration
Asdoo.com sought out the services of Tangelix Pty Ltd because of my past experience with
Wotif.com. Asdoo.com needed technical expertise to assist them with extending the
distressed inventory model utilised by Wotif.com to provide conference bookings and
automatic room package management. I was responsible for the system design and
specification using Ruby On Rails and XML technologies.
Asdoo.com also utilises web services to integrate with numerous 3rd party accommodation
booking providers using the Open Travel Alliance (OTA) XML standard.
Warehouse Enterprise Management System

Client: 1st Fleet Logistics
Role: Software Architect
Technologies:
Microsoft SQL Server, ASP.NET, ADO.NET, Biztalk Server, XML/XSLT
1st Fleet won a tender to provide an integrated warehouse pick and despatch system to
facilitate delivery of magazines for Gordon & Gotch and Australian Consolidated Press. Due
to difficulty integrating the disparate components, and their respective data formatting
requirements, Tangelix was engaged to produce a working solution.
The system design required extensive optimisation to handle large data volumes and included
complex route calculation algorithms for nation-wide delivery management.
Financial Data Entry and Reporting Application

Client: University of Queensland Business School
Role: Requirements Analysis, Project Management
Technologies:
Ruby On Rails, PostgresSQL
The UQ Business School were using an Oracle database system produced by an internal
developer for data entry of company financial reporting data. I was responsible for reverse
engineering the existing Oracle solution and overseeing the reimplementation of a new
solution utilising Ruby on Rails and providing functionality for extensive reporting in addition
to the existing data entry functions.
Online Company Registration Websites

Client: Incorporator.com.au / UKcorporator.co.uk
Role: Project Manager, Technical Lead
Technologies:
Incorporator.com.au – ASP (jscript), ASP.NET (C#,VB.NET), ADO.NET, XML/XSLT, MSSQL
UKcorporator.co.uk – PHP, XML/XSLT, Postscript, MySQL
Online facilities for incorporation of companies within Australia and the United Kingdom.
The Australian website utilises ActivePDF libraries to produce PDF documents based on user
inputted data. I was responsible for the specification and implementation of web services
facilitating real-time company registrations in Australia, utilising ASP.NET technologies.
The United Kingdom website uses a completely alternate development framework as it was
initially developed by the client’s in-house developer. Tangelix was asked to complete the
implementation which required extensive reverse engineering of the existing codebase.

Tangelix successfully launched the site for the client and I have since been responsible for specifying and implementing an online registration extension.

Car and Campervan Booking System
Client: Drivenow.com.au
Role: Software Architect
Technologies:
Java (Hibern8, Spring, FreeMarker), MySQL, XML/XSLT Open Travel Alliance integration
I managed a team of developers to produce back end data models and front end search and
booking facilities for a car and campervan booking website. This project required custom
data models to be created to manage distressed inventory hire of car and campervan
inventory. Implementation was done using Java technologies (Hibern8, Spring, FreeMarker)
under Apache and Resin.
DriveNow utilises the Open Travel Alliance (OTA) XML standard to query availability from and
to submit customer bookings directly into supplier back-end systems.
Hotel Accommodation Booking System

Client: Wotif.com
Role: Software Architect
Technologies:
ASP, Microsoft SQL Server
My company was responsible for providing web development services to Wotif.com from launch through the first three years of operation. I was initially the senior developer and later managed the entire team of ten developers responsible for the website’s operation. As Wotif.com’s traffic increased I was responsible for implementing complex optimisations to the search algorithms.
