Stav moved to Australia from Scotland when he was just 8 years old. After making the national finals of Triple J's Raw Comedy Competition in 2000, and winning the Bacardi Breezer New Comic of the Year competition in 2002, Stav was invited to perform on The Comedy Channel's Hahn Ice Headliners.
